Woodfordes Norfolk Ales has become a by-word for consistency and excellence among brewers of cask conditioned ale and their customers.

Woodfordes has grown from tiny beginnings to become one of the largest and most respected of the wave of new cask ale brewers who started up in the early 1980s. It was a time when beer drinkers finally began to rebel against the relentless blandness of the larger brewers products, and pioneers turned first to home brewing and then to commercial production of their lovingly created recipes.

Now you can make your own top quality Woodfordes beers easily and economically in the comfort of your own home. Discover your favourite from the great range of Woodfordes Home Brew kits.

Pros: Easy drinking
Cons: Doesn't last long
Recommended: Yes
I've made five or six of these kits now, with great success every time. I let it ferment for week in primary, then drain into secondary and dry hop with 33 gms of Goldings in muselin bag for week, then strain into final for week to let it settle. I then bottle with spoonful of brewing sugar and leave for 3 weeks.

Pros: As easy to brew as it is to drink!
Cons: None.

I've never had a bad pint from Woodforde's, yet a couple of their kits stand out from the crowd. Wherry tastes like a true pint of real ale. I ferment for no less than 10 days, and then add Spraymalt mediumin in place of sugar, to add an extra malty flavour to the finished beer. I find that 38 days maturing in bottle or keg, seems to be the magic number of days, when a threshold is reached and it matures from beer into BEER! I've never needed to gas it with CO2 either.....but who likes gassy beer, anyway?? Every brewer has their own recipe and method, but these work for me.

Woodforde Wherry Bitter Kit
By Keith from France on 01/11/2011
Pros: Easy to make and drink
Cons: None
Recommended: Yes
Trying to get a good pint of English bitter in France is a problem for those of us that live here. Not any more with the Wherry Bitter Kit. I bought the kit last year and made my first batch at the end of the summer. I could not believe how easy it was. Everything was provided apart from the sugar and water. 3 week later I had 40 pints of proper beer. Fantastic. Picked up another kit just before Christmas. 50p per pint.....now that's a bargain.
Good Pint!

Just tried a bottle of this 3 months after bottling and I can't believe how good it was. It was fantastic! I never thought I'd get this quality from homebrew but I have the proof.
For thoughs who can wait a little I would definately recommend keeping a couple to try after a few months as the taste is superb, I've only got a couple left now and I wish I had left more.
I'll definately be getting more.
Woodforde's Wherry
By Kev from Edinburgh on 04/09/2010
Pros: Great Tasting and Easy to brew
Cons: Poor head retention in first couple weeks
Recommended: Yes
This was my first attempt at homebrewing and I was not disappointed.
Followed instructions and bottled after 10 days, and then left it for 2 more before cracking one open.
The head retention was pretty poor in the first 2 weeks but after that was perfect.
Next time I may leave it longer in the Primary or use a secondary to reduce the sediment at the bottom, but hey this was my first attempt and can learn for the next time.
Mine came with a starter kit so for people who want to give it a try get the starter kit and it will come with all the equipment needed to brew the beer aswell.
This is a very easy beer to brew and friends and family will love it.
